The Howden screw compressors are designed according to the most stringent standards and supplied to distributors worldwide. In addition to bare shaft compressors, we offer complete screw compressors groups designed for specific tasks.

Screw Compressors

The screw compressor technology was developed by James Howden & Co. together with professor Lysholm of Svenska Rotor Maskiner in 1939. We begun to market it in the 40s, and in 1961 we designed the first oil injection controlled flow rate compressors. Today, we supply screw compressors for refrigeration systems and for the petrochemical, gas and oil sectors worldwide.

Our compressor models ensure minimal maintenance and high efficiency, minimizing operating costs. The homogeneous rotation of the two screws allows the compressor to handle the most difficult and contaminating gases, as well as the backfires of liquids without vibrations. Two series of standard bare shaft screw compressors are available, the XRV and WRV series. The XRV series compressors have a flow rate from 300 m3/h to 1,600 m3/h, while the series WRV ones have a flow rate from 550 m3/h to 12,000m3/h. The Howden screw compressors are supplied by Howden Compressors Ltd and, for the North America, by Howden Compressor LLC.

Screw Compressor Groups

Wherever more than a bare shaft screw compressor is needed, we can design and supply a complete compression system. A standard package includes: compressor, motor, oil management system, controls, additional process-related parts or devices such as coolers, separation tanks, condensation removal system and washing towers.
